MICROCAP 55 is a capacitive type level switch used for empty and full state control in silos, tanks, boilers, bunkers and similar reserve areas of solid products.
When detecting the product level with the MICROCAP 55 capacitive level switch, a probe is used to perceive the change of capacitive reactance and impedance between the probe and metal tank. Within the electronic unit, the measuring electrode and the reactance of the empty container together create a balanced bridge circuit and a stable oscillation signal is produced. When the level increases and the measured product covers up the measuring electrode, capacitance between the measuring electrode and the silo/tank wall changes, which causes imbalance of the bridge circuit and stops creating an oscillation signal. This change is detected by the electronic unit and converted to an alarm output signal.
MICROCAP 55 capacitive level switch can also measure by using a reference rod in non-metal tanks.
